Maris family vs Anheuser Busch

In March of 2001, the family of famous baseball player Roger Maris hired McNicholas & Associates to defend the family name.

For years, beer giant Anheuser-Busch accused the home run legend’s brother Rudy Maris and his family of fraudulent business operations by allegedly selling outdated beer from its Ocala/Gainesville distributorship. McNicholas & Associates launched a grassroots and nationwide outreach campaign to restore the Maris name. This highly successful campaign not only garnered national support from major media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, it also created a groundswell of community support.

 In August of 2001, a jury awarded the Maris family $139,000,000.00 and stated that Anheuser-Busch wrongly terminated its agreement with the Maris family. Four years later, in the midst of a defamation trial against Anheuser-Busch, the beer giant settled in the 11th hour. The Maris family name was finally restored.
